We went to Asahikawa in Hokkaido for our first skiing trip this season, last weekend. I received a e-mail from JAL airlines on Friday morning, and JAL said "We may cancel your flight on Friday night due to the snow storm in Chitose airport". We headed to the Osaka airport on Friday evening, and checked our flight for Sapporo. We're lucky, because the weather around Chitose airport was fine, and the flight had no problems. We arrived at the hotel around 10 PM, and stayed one night in Sapporo.
I woke up 5:30 AM the next morning, and saw outside. I was really excited, because there was a lot of snow in Sapporo. At around 7 AM, we checked out of our hotel and headed to the Sapporo Station and boarded the express train for Asahikawa. In Asahikawa, we picked up our rental car and headed to the Wassamu Ski Resort. Wassamu is located north of Asahikawa and is only an hour drive to get there. This ski resort is not too big, and I didn't see many skiers or snowboarders there. We enjoyed the powder snow at Wassamu ski resort. It looked like a private resort.
