We went to Nozawa Onsen Ski resort in Nagano last weekend. In Japan, there are 6 big ski resorts, Mt.6. Nozawa Onsen Ski resort is one of them. (Mt.6 means Zao, Kusatsu, Shiga, Nozawa Onsen, Myoko and Happo ski resort). Nowadays more and more foreigners come to Nozawa Onsen.
Nozawa Onsen Ski resort has 21 lifts, including 2 gondola lifts, 36 ski runs, and this ski resort offers a adventurous backcountry ski tour. This area has a lot of snow in the winter season, so you can ski from December until GW in May. In the winter, the cold air comes to northern part of Japan, these areas face the Japan sea, and provides a lot of clouds. These clouds hit the mountains in Nagano, and creates huge snowfalls around Nozawa Onsen.
After skiing, you can enjoy the hot springs at Nozawa Onsen. There are 13 public hot spring Bathhouses called “Soto-yu” in the village. I like the hot springs in Nozawa, because I can get really relaxed and full of life. I hope many foreigners enjoy the powdery snow and the hot springs at Nozawa Onsen.
