My wife, her mother and I went to Hokkaido last weekend. We started our trip by flying to Chitose in Hokkaido on Friday night with JAL. We stayed one night at Tomakomai, and headed to the Ohnuma National Park the next morning by the JR train. We rode the JR express train 3 hours and didn't get tired, because the landscape from train was really nice, seaside and mountains covered with snow.
Ohnuma is located north of Hakodate, just 40 minutes by car. There are a lot of beautiful ponds and also the Hokkaido Komagatake mountain which is a volcano in the park. More and more people from foreign countries goes there, because the landscape is really nice. We stayed in a hotel near the national park for two nights. We enjoyed seafood from Hakodate and also skiing. The snow condition was pretty good, because it was so cold in this area.
