Last weekend, we went to Fukushima for skiing. First, I went to Nagoya Thursday night, by car and boarded the ferry boat for Sendai. I arrived in Sendai the next evening. It was a 20 hour ride, but I was able to relaxed on the boat. After Sendai, I headed to the Fukushima airport by car to pick up my wife. She came to Fukushima with ANA Friday night. On Saturday, we visited the Hatoriko ski resort in the Fukushima prefecture. It was a fine day and thanks to the cold weather, the snow condition was pretty good. We enjoyed skiing on the groomed ski runs.
In fact, there was a big Nuclear power plant accident in Fukushima 7 years ago. The radioactivity leaked out of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear power plant in 2011. It was a very bad accidents. After the accident, the Japanese government and Fukushima prefecture began monitoring the radiation levels in Fukushima. Some areas around the plant are still restricted, because radioactivity levels are still high. Some people, have to move to safer areas and they are living in temporary housing. I hope they recover soon. On the other hand, the radiation levels are getting low little by little in most areas in Fukushima and I think these areas are safe. I will continue to support Fukushima's future.
