Last week was a long weekend but I had work on Saturday, so my wife went to Akita with ANA last Friday night by herself and I headed to Akita with JAL last Saturday night by myself. We stayed one night and enjoyed the local cuisine on Saturday night in Akita city. Next morning we headed to Kyowa ski resort by rental car. This ski resort is located in Daisen city and it's just 45 minutes drive from Akita station. There are just two chair lifts, but so many ski runs and wide slopes in this resort. The condition of the snow and ski runs were really nice, so we enjoyed skiing in Kyowa. After Kyowa we headed to Senboku city and stayed one night in a Japanese style hotel with hot springs. Actually, we've been there in summer before, but it was the first time we've been in winter. Senboku is a really nice place for staying in winter, because there is a really beautiful lake, the best skiing resort, the highest mountain covered with snow in Akita and many good hot springs. We enjoyed skiing, nice views of the mountains and hot springs there, plus I can't wait for the next time already.
