We went to Nozawa Onsen ski resort for skiing last weekend by car. Nozawa Onsen village is located in the northern part of Nagano and it was a 5 hour drive from Kusatsu in Shiga. The weather in Nozawa was sunny, no cold temperatures and not a windy day last weekend. This ski resort has a difference in elevation of over 1,000 meters and many ski runs, plus it's famous for heavy snowfalls. Even in April, you could ski down hill from the top of the mountain to the bottom, however the snow condition at the bottom was like mashed potatoes. It's spring skiing, I think.
The big skiing test ride event was taking place in Nozawa last weekend. It was a really big promotion sponsored by Nozawa Onsen ski resort and some major ski and snowboard makers. You could test ride many kinds of skis for beginners, experts and back country skiers. We enjoyed ourselves and spent a good time at this event and I'd like to buy new skis, the Blue Morris, for next season.
