Miyagi and Yamagata 7/23-26

We visited Miyagi and Yamagata prefecture for sightseeing because last weekend was a long one. Actually, our trip started by heading Komaki airport in Nagoya by car on the afternoon of 23rd July and then we headed to Nagoya port to board the ferry boat bound for Sendai after we parked our car at airport parking. That boat left Nagoya at 7 PM and arrived at Sendai the next day around 4 PM. It took 21 hours to get there. In Sendai we watched the baseball game, RAKUTEN Eagles against ORIX Buffaloes on Friday night. We enjoyed the ball game, unfortunately, it was raining so we needed to buy raincoats at the ballpark. I hope the rainy season will finish soon.

We visited Ishinomaki and Onagawa east of Miyagi prefecture by train on Saturday. These areas suffered tremendous damage by the East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami in 2011. In fact, we visited there December 2011 after the earthquake, so it was the first time visiting there in nine years. Actually, nine years have passed since the disaster, but some places have changed a lot and others was still remained the same. I felt that they need a time to get back to normal. I'd like to support the Tohoku areas forever.

After Ishinomaki we headed to Naruko Onsen and stayed at a Japanese style hotel with hot springs for one night. We've been there many times before, because this hot spring is very famous for natural hot water and rich mineral and it's my favorite. On the last Sunday we went to Hijiori Onsen in Yamagata and enjoyed hot springs there as well. I'd like to visit there in the winter and want to enjoy a hot springs and skiing.
