We went to Oku-Hida in Gifu prefecture last weekend. Oku-Hida is at high altitude and located in the northern part of Gifu. There are so many hot springs near the volcano Mt.Yakedake. It is a nice place to stay, because you can enjoy a nice view of the high mountains, beautiful rivers and big falls.
Last Saturday, we visited Honoki ski resort in Oku-Hida and enjoyed skiing. It was opening day at that ski resort and we skied just one trail, but many skiers and snowboarders were there. I felt the ski season has started. We stayed at Hirayu Onsen with its amazing natural hot springs one night. We enjoyed so many open air baths in the hot springs and the very good local food. Next day, we headed to Hirayu ski resort. In fact, there was over 30 cm of snow fall over night. There were so many skiers, because on opening day skiing was free. I’d like to say “Thank you!” for Hirayu ski resort. We used our wide skis and enjoyed the powdery snow there. I’d like to visit again this season.
There was snow on the road, so I had to be careful driving. We came back home to Shiga without any problems.
