We visited Hokkaido to watch a baseball game, the Nippon-Ham Fighters versus the Hanshin Tigers at the new ballpark, ESCON field. We arrived there three hours before the game and enjoyed some food, local beers and the local lemon sour. The atmosphere was great, because there are a lot of restaurants, food stands and bars. Plus, you can enjoy the hot springs and sauna inside the ballpark. It’s amazing, but we’ve never tried it before.
This ballpark is the home stadium of the Fighters, but lots of Tigers fan came there last Saturday. The ballpark was full and they were excited and cheering loudly. I felt sometimes it was too noisy and uncomfortable. On the other hand, I also felt everything was back to normal. I remember the baseball games that took place without many fans inside the stadium and then only five thousand fans came to the stadium during the terrible pandemic. We couldn’t drink beers, cheer out loud and we had to wear masks, keep social distance back then. Last weekend, we were happy, because we had a great time in the ballpark. We’re planning to visit there again next month and can’t wait.
