We've been to Nagano for skiing during the new year vacation with my wife and friends. We were 6 skiers including me and visited Takayama ski resort and Hakuba Norikura ski resort. Thanks to artificial snow we enjoyed skiing in Takaya but we could hardly ski in Hakuba Norikura because there was no snow making system. There was some snow on the ski runs but it wasn't enough for skiing. I thought it seemed to be 10cm of snow and a little on the ski runs. It was terrible snow conditions there and it was too bad for skiers and snow boarders. In fact, I've never seen anything like that lack of snow in 30 years.
We saw a lot of foreigners in ski resorts in Hakuba, but they were disappointed with the snow conditions there. I hope there will be a lot of snowfall in January and February.
