Last week was a long weekend and we went to Akita for skiing with JAL free mileages. Akita is located in the north of Honshu and it usually has a lot of snow because it's very cold there in winter. However, even Akita had no snow downtown last weekend and there was a little rain on Saturday morning. In fact, there was snow around the mountains but snow in the ski resorts was almost half or less than usual, plus the snow conditions were not good. It was like mashed potato on some ski runs and it looked like spring snow, so it was almost impossible. This mild winter is terrible because weather news says it will be staying warmer than usual until the end of January. I hope it will be back to usual and a lot of snow falls in ski resorts.
