Japan has four seasons, spring, summer, autumn and winter in a year and also has 24 periods on the old traditional calendar. Shunbun in spring, Geshi in summer, Shubun in autumn and Touji in winter are very important terms, because they are typical of four seasons. Actually, winter has six periods and this week is Daikan which is one of the 24 periods. They say it's the coldest weather term during Daikan period, but it's really warm these days and there will be heavy rain this weekend in Japan. I check a live camera in some ski resorts every day, but there is no snow in Shiga, Fukui and Gifu. I'm disappointed in that, because this winter is really unusual weather. In fact, we're planning to visit Nozawa Onsen ski resort in Nagano next weekend. I hope it will be back to usual and a lot of snow falls in the ski resorts.
