I heard the news there was terrible damage by heavy rain in Hitoyoshi, Kumamoto last weekend. Hitoyoshi is located south of Kumamoto prefecture and surround by many mountains. Plus, there're so many rivers in Hitoyoshi. Unfortunately, some rivers were overflowing and some bridges were collapsed by heavy rain. Plus many people died and lost their houses.
Hitoyoshi is a very nice place for staying and sightseeing, because there are many hot springs, Shocyu distilleries, old town and sightseeing train steam locomotive. I've been there many times before and it's my favorite place. I hope everything in Hitoyshi area is back to normal as soon as possible.
