Last weekend, we went to Kyusyu for sightseeing. First, we headed to Yame city in Fukuoka by train and visited Yame Traditional Crafts Museum. Yame city is located south of Fukuoka, it's just 30 minutes from Hakata station by bullet train. We tried to make a Japanese paper fan with traditional paper “Washi” at the museum. Plus, we also learned about making process of “Washi”. The staffs in the museum provided a lot of paper fibers in the tank and we scooped them up with a screen and then moved them back and forth again and again. After drying the “Washi”, we got the finished Japanese paper fan. It was a really nice experience.
After Yame, we headed to Beppu in Ohita by JR trains. Beppu is really famous for natural hot springs and well known for sea foods. In these days more and more foreigners are visiting Beppu, because there're so many hot springs in Beppu and it's close to Fukuoka. Beppu is a nice place for visiting and staying. We stayed one night in Beppu and enjoyed the hot springs and sea foods. Actually, we took a hot spring bath four times one night. It was really good!
