We had an amazing weekend in Tohoku. This is a beautiful region in northeast Japan. It’s famous for high mountains, good local food, very nice Japanese Sake and the unique Japanese culture.
The spring is almost over and in some areas are starting rainy season now. However, Gassan ski resort is still open with 100% natural snow. It is located in west of Yamagata city and over 1000 meters above sea level. There was a lot snow and enough for skiing at the resort. We visited there on Saturday and there were a lot of people, because that ski resort is the only one you can still ski in Japan. We enjoyed skiing, natural hot springs and the nice views there. It was the first time my wife has been there and she seemed to love the skiing in Gassan!
