Last weekend we took our first ski trip of the season. We went to Shirakaba 2in1 Ski resort in the town of Tateshina, Nagano prefecture. On Saturday, we woke up around 6am and we started our five-hour drive to the resort and arrived around noon. It’s a not big resort and you can only ski one trail covered with artificial snow, but many skiers and snowboarders came to there. We were lucky, because it was fine weather and not crowded. The snow was pretty good and the lift tickets were reasonable. We not only enjoyed skiing, but also the local food and a Japanese sake there. The area is famous for Shinsyu-Salmon which is a freshwater fish and is a local specialty. There are many Japanese Sake breweries nearby, because they can easily obtain good quality fresh water and rice for making Sake. Of course, we bought some Sake at the Masumi brewery produces which the top class Sake brand. We’re planning to go skiing next weekend too, I hope there is a lot of snow at the ski resorts around Gifu, Nagano and Niigata.
