We went to Motosu town in Gifu prefecture by car. I drove there in just two hours and it was a one day trip. We had lunch in Ayu fish restaurant riverside. The Ayu fish lives in small clear rocky bottomed rivers and streams. In Japan it is more popular than trout. I like Ayu that is salted and grilled over charcoal. We enjoyed the fish prepared many different ways: grilled, fried raw and steamed with rice. Summer is the best season for Ayu and you can enjoy them until October. I want to go there again this season.
