Yokohama 11/3-4

We went to Kanagawa Prefecture for sightseeing last weekend. We started our trip by boarding a bullet train for Tokyo last Friday night and arrived at Yugawara hot springs in Kanagawa around 9 PM. Yugawara is located west of Kanagawa prefecture and it's famous for good hot springs. There are a lot of hotels in Yugawara. We stayed at a Japanese style hotel and got relaxed in the hot springs.

On the next day we headed to Yokosuka which is located south of Kanagawa by train. We visited the historic memorial warship “Mikasa” musuem in the morning. Mikasa was once a battleship in the Imperial Japanese navy and it is preserved as a museum ship in Yokosuka after World War Ⅱ. We learned a lot about Japanese history in the world wars. In the afternoon, we visited Yokosuka port and joined the boat cruise tour of the naval port. There is the United States naval base and the Japanese self defense force naval base in Yokosuka. I was surprised by the large size of the naval base. We had a good experience there.

On Sunday we visited the Mitsubishi Minatomirai Industrial Museum in Yokohama. This museum is operated by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and exhibits the realms of science and technology. We looked around Mitsubishi's technology in aerospace, ocean vessels and transport. It was really interesting.

In fact it was the first time we've been to Yokosuka and Yokohama. This area has a long history, but it's a really new, clean and active city. I liked them. I want to visit there again someday.
